I Remember When....

The first time I saw you. You were sitting there with all those guys sitting around you just hoping that they could get you to date them. I still remember how your hair looked. That gorgeous smile when I saw you. Of course, I had to play it cool and walk up introduce myself, and walk away. (I think it worked) There was just something about you… maybe it was this young beautiful country cowgirl ready to enjoy life. This was the moment the started the rest of my life.

The first time I actually got to sit and talk with you…what a night. There is something about a bonfire. I remember talking to you the entire time. Both of us were just happy to be in the moment and get to know each other. Of course, there was that incident with the out door bathrooms. I of course would have to say I was surprised to hear that Marlee, who was way to young to be there that late, told your family that last night she meet the man you were going to marry. I am glad she was right.

We started going to the Singles dances together before we were actually dating. Dancing all night until our feet hurt. I remember just wanting to be close to you singing in your ear. (sorry I’m not as good as George Strait) That was one of the things that made me fall in love with you. I loved to dance and you were the only girl who could keep up. I would remember wanting the night not to end. Of course, there was the night of our first kiss. Now I want to dance the rest of our lives together.

Then we started dating “officially” we started spending time together every free moment that we had. I remember being up all night and asleep at work all day. I couldn’t keep my head straight. All I could do is look forward to when I would get off and spend the rest of the evening with you. Our first birthdays together were great. Simply Fondue for yours with good friends and then your surprise for my birthday I would have to say was awesome. We went to the lake had a picnic and then Chris pulls up with the boat. Going out on the lake at dusk, listening to country love songs, and dancing the night away all alone in the middle of the lake. I remember when the song “Stars on the water” came on the radio its like they knew. That was a wonderful birthday.

By then you were becoming my best friend. I wanted to spend every moment with you. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. Then there was that trip to your dads. I wasn’t going to be able to go because of work. Then I remember distinctly the spirit telling me that I needed to go. I walked into Rays office told him I needed the end of the week off. He looked at me like I was a fool then I told him I needed to ask your father if I could marry you. He thought about it and then said that it sounded like I needed to go to Kansas City.

Around this time, the song “She’s my kind of rain” came out on the radio and became my song for you. It was a way for me to relate what you meant to me in my life. Now I knew that you would be the girl I wanted to spend eternity with and grow a family. It was time propose and I had to do it twice. It’s a good thing you didn’t say no the first time. But when your ring was ready I wanted it to be special. I remember taking you to the fountains at Las Colinas and telling you the story about my tradition of throwing in a coin and making a wish every time I came there. Then I got my quarter out, fished around for one for you, pulled out yours put it in your hand and watching you realize it was a ring and not a coin then I kneeled down and threw my quarter over your shoulder and proposed. Guess what you said yes.

Our wedding was wonderful I remember watching you in that gorgeous dress. It was hot I'll give you but so worth it. And of course the honeymoon was great. I think we should go on a cruise again as soon as we can. It was great. I cannot wait to go and play all over the world with you.

Now we have our little family growing and adding one more so soon. I am so thankful for you being my beautiful bride and the mother of our children. The greatest moments of my days are coming home to you and the children seeing you all smile and be so happy to be together. I miss you all day and can’t wait to see you every evening. You all are my world the one reason I do every thing I do. I love you guys and am so happy with what you guys make me. I love you

Chelsea I hope you have a wonderful Birthday and enjoy this moment to reflect on our lives together and enjoy this moment to listen to the music that was such a wonderful part of our lives. Chelsea I love you so much. Happy Birthday Love.

Love Douglas
